Temperatures will trend upwards to the upper 80s during this time. Any showers or storms will be more scattered about rather than widespread and continuous. While rain is possible over the weekend, the chances will be a bit lower than in recent days. Temperatures during the afternoon hours will remain below normal in the middle 80s. Scattered showers will also likely develop across parts of the area on Friday as our stalled boundary begins to wash out overhead. Coverage will begin to taper off overnight as low temperatures bottom out in the lower 70s. Other impacts will include heavy downpours, lightning, and gusty winds at times. There are two systems in the tropics that we are monitoring, but no activity in our region is anticipated through this weekend.Ĭonsidering some downpours could be slow-movers and soils are very saturated, localized flash flooding is possible overnight and on Friday. Those that were impacted back in 2020 need to start preparing for rising waters into next week. The river has not reached these levels in Jackson since the flooding that occurred in February of 2020. The Pearl River at Jackson is still forecast to crest at 36′ by Tuesday of next week, which is considered Major Flood Stage. A frontal boundary nearing from the north will also keep the chance for showers and storms on the higher end by mid to late week. Rain chances will remain elevated into our next work and school week as moisture flows in off the Gulf of Mexico. For the times that you aren’t seeing the rain, expect mostly cloudy skies with sun breaks and highs in the middle to upper 80s both afternoons. Isolated to scattered showers or storms will likely flare up across central MS this weekend, mainly during the afternoon and early evening hours. While it won’t rain the entire weekend, make sure you continue to keep an umbrella close by. The chance for rain will taper off overnight as low temperatures bottom out in the lower 70s. Localized flash flooding could be a concern for some with any show-moving or heavy showers. Scattered downpours will continue to drift across parts of the area into this area.

Monday Highs continue in the mid-80s with some rain chances continuing across the area. Flash flooding could be possible as showers and storms develop across the area. We hold a 50% chance of showers and storms over the weekend. This Weekend, rain chances begin to redevelop across the South and central Ms. Rain chances hold low, with Lows falling into the low 70s upper 60s. Friday, Highs return to the upper 80s with lows falling to the upper 60s. It does help take the edge off of our temperatures as we enter back into the mid-80s by the weekend. This front really brings us drier air to the area. Thursday, Highs still hold near the low 90s to upper 80s as a Cold Front enters into the South. The average high is about 90 this time of year and the average low is near 70. Overall, we are looking at about a 20 to 30% chance of showers. Lows will fall to the low 70s to upper 60s. The next couple of days look relatively dry thanks to a cool front. The average high this time of year should be near 90 degrees. Daily storm chances will continue into next week with temperatures remaining below normal in the 80s. Temperatures will be cooler with more clouds around and better chances for rain with highs more so in the lower to middle 80s. While it won't be a washout, there will be better opportunities for scattered showers and storms, especially towards the end of the weekend on Sunday. A more unsettled weather pattern will arrive during Labor Day Weekend with more moisture around and with the near stationary front draped across the region. Otherwise, expect temperatures near normal in the upper 80s and lower 90s under a mix of sun and clouds. This could yield to a few showers or thunderstorms later in the day, but a lot of us likely won't see the rain. Moisture will gradually begin to creep in on Friday from off the Gulf as a front becomes stationary to our south. Temperatures will slowly make fall back to the upper 60s and lower 70s by the early morning hours Friday under partly cloudy skies. A quiet and nice overnight is expected as slightly drier air remains in place.
