This very unique event combines ski touring and free-riding during which racers are timed on the way up, whereas judges evaluate their style on the way down. In 2013, assistance to racers was provided by 4 first aiders. Organized by the Chamonix French Ski School, this early season ski mountaineering race gathers locals around a same passion. Since its first edition in 1989, it has remained a convivial event that brings together both tradition and sports during which La Chamoniarde provides assistance in a spirit of genuine comradeship. In 2013, assistance to runners was provided by 10 first aiders. The course changes every year, and weather that change dramatically: conditions may vary from sunny and hot to stormy or even snowy. Its concerts in altitude have largely contributed to its popularity.Ĭonvivial and a smaller scale race, highly competitive runners yet come from far away to compete in this end-of-season race. Alpine provides no-charge search and rescue services in some of Colorados most visited backcountry areas. Pretty landscapes and a mellow terrain contrast with steep train and hellish rhythm near the end of the race. It is the starting race for those who wish to join the famous UTMB race one day. Alpine Rescue Team of Evergreen, Colorado is a mountain search and rescue unit dedicated to saving lives through search, rescue, and mountain safety.

15 first aiders assisted runners along the race in 2013. It is a great running test after a long winter. The facility will serve as a center showcasing artifacts. In August of 2018, construction began on the new 3200 square foot facility. The Colorado Mountain Rescue History Center is also located at the Rescue Station. Breath-taking views and a challenging race profile make it a top class event. Headquarters (Rescue Base/Station) is located at 28802 Rainbow Hill Rd. Head of Tirol Mountain Rescue, Peter Veider says: I look for top-quality products, that are made locally, in a sustainable way that is not harmful to the environment.” So, Salewa and the mountain rescue team make a great partnership.Recently added to the valley trail running agenda, this event launches the trail running season in Chamonix.

Where possible locally sourced materials are used, such as wool from Tirol mountain sheep (for TirolWool® Celliant® insulation). Sustainability and keeping things local are two further viewpoints both organisations share. Their combined wealth of experience in the mountains is also important in helping us develop lighter and more durable mountain equipment.

This makes them ideal ‘product testers’ for Salewa. Mountain rescue members are regularly faced with tackling challenging, alpine terrain and in less than ideal conditions: wind, snow, ice, freezing temperatures. This is a symbiotic relationship if ever there was one: we supply technical clothing for members of the mountain rescue teams and gain invaluable feedback and product development input in return. Salewa has been working with Tirol Mountain Rescue for over five years and the rewarding partnership looks set to continue well into the future.
